Why should we have a wedding video?
Over the past few years we've seen a real shift in how couples value wedding films. When we first started West Cork Weddings, many couples booked a videographer because they were afraid they might regret not having their day filmed. Now it's often one of the first suppliers couples secure.

Photos will always be incredibly important. They freeze beautiful moments in time and give you something to frame and display in your home. But a wedding film captures the parts of the day that photographs simply can't.

With video you can hear the laughter again. You can hear the tone in your voices during your vows. You can watch your friends cheering during the first dance, and see the reactions during the speeches.

Years from now, those voices and reactions will mean even more. You'll be able to watch the people you love celebrating with you, and one day your children and family will be able to see what your wedding day felt like too.

A wedding film isn't just a record that the day happened. It's the closest thing you'll have to stepping back into those moments again.
Do you only film weddings in West Cork?
While we're based in West Cork (and find it hard to leave such a beautiful place), we're very happy to travel to ensure you get a wedding film you'll love. We don't charge travel costs for weddings within West Cork, but there may be an additional charge for venues further away.

The easiest thing to do is simply get in touch and let us know where you're getting married. We'll happily talk it through with you and confirm everything clearly from the start.
Can we customise a package?
Yes, absolutely! One thing we've learned over the years is that, just like every wedding is unique, so is every couple. We all have different priorities when it comes to our wedding day.

We've spent a lot of time creating packages that work well for most couples, but if you like parts of different packages or have something slightly different in mind, just let us know. We're always happy to put together a bespoke quote that suits exactly what you're looking for.
What happens after we enquire, and how do we book?
Once you send an enquiry, we'll first confirm our availability and share our pricing guide with you. If you have any questions after that, we're always happy to help, and if it's useful we can arrange a quick call to chat through your plans and what you're looking for.

When you're happy with everything, we'll send over a short contract to be signed along with the booking deposit details. Once the contract is signed and the deposit is paid, your date is officially secured.

A few weeks before the wedding we'll arrange another chat to go through the timeline and final details, and at that point we'll also send the invoice for the remaining balance.

Your Wedding Day

What to expect on your wedding day.

We're awkward on camera. Will you pose us?
Most couples say this at the start, and it's completely normal! (We were exactly the same on our own wedding day, so we fully understand that having cameras around can feel a little strange at first.)

The good news is you don't need to be "good on camera" to have a beautiful wedding film. Our approach is natural and relaxed, focusing on capturing the genuine moments that make your day unique.

We'll give gentle guidance when it's helpful, but we won't ask you to do anything forced, cheesy, or that doesn't feel like you. Instead, we focus on the real moments, the nerves and excitement in the morning, the little glances, the big hugs, the happy tears, and the fun with friends and family.

Most couples say they forgot we were even filming, which is exactly how it should feel. You can read some of those reviews here: Read What Our Couples Say About Us!
What is your filming style?
Our style is natural and documentary, with a cinematic finish. That means your day is captured as it really happened, without interrupting the flow or pulling you away from your guests.

We work quietly in the background, always looking for the authentic moments that tell the real story of the day. The aim is for your film to feel like the atmosphere of the day itself, not a staged version of it.

When it comes to editing, we focus on telling the story chronologically rather than simply creating a montage of the best-looking clips. This allows your film to unfold naturally from morning preparations right through to the evening celebrations.

We also keep our equipment simple and discreet. One main camera is used throughout the day, with additional cameras only used during key moments like the ceremony and speeches. This gives you great coverage without your wedding ever feeling like a production set.
How many videographers should I expect?
Just one! While West Cork Weddings is a husband and wife team behind the scenes, on the wedding day itself it will be Adam filming.

This helps keep the atmosphere calm, discreet, and relaxed for both you and your guests. There's usually also a photographer present (and sometimes a second shooter), so we've found that one videographer creates the perfect balance.

You still get all the important moments captured beautifully, but without the extra attention that can come from having too many cameras around.
How long do you stay on our wedding day?
From morning preparations right through to a few songs after the first dance. This allows us to capture the full story of the day, the build-up in the morning, the ceremony, the celebrations afterwards, the speeches, and the start of the party.

If the dancefloor is in full swing, we'll often stay a little longer to capture some of the fun.

If there's anything unique about your timeline, we'll talk it through in advance so you know exactly what coverage will look like for your day.
Will you use a drone on my wedding day?
Yes, drone footage is included whenever possible. It's a lovely way to establish the setting and capture the venue and surrounding landscape, especially in the beautiful locations we're lucky enough to film in across Ireland.

Occasionally weather conditions or local flight restrictions mean it's not possible to fly. When that happens, we simply focus on capturing the location and atmosphere in other ways so your film still feels complete and cinematic.

How do you tell the story of the day in the edit?
We edit your wedding film in a chronological way so it naturally flows from morning preparations through to the evening celebrations.

This helps the film feel like you're reliving the day as it actually unfolded, rather than just watching a montage of the most visually striking clips.

Where appropriate we also weave in the real voices and sounds from the day, vows, speeches, laughter and reactions, so the film feels emotional, fun, and authentic. The pacing of the edit is carefully crafted so it builds naturally towards the biggest moments.
Do you ever deliver RAW footage?
In short, not in the traditional sense. All of our footage is filmed using a very flat camera profile, which means it initially looks low in contrast and colour. This allows us to capture the maximum detail in both bright and dark areas so it can later be colour graded properly.

Because of this, and because the original files are very large 4K video files, raw clips on their own aren't particularly watchable.

Instead, we offer something called the 'Mini Series', which is included in our Premium and Ultimate packages. This is essentially all of the watchable footage from the day organised into episodes. For example, the morning preparations might be one episode, the ceremony another, and so on.

We remove unusable clips and export the rest into 30 to 40 minute episodes with the original audio. Very light colour and contrast adjustments are applied so everything looks natural and enjoyable to watch.

It's perfect if you'd like to see extra moments that didn't make it into the main film, or if you'd like a longer 'binge watch' version of your wedding day.
When will I receive my wedding film?
It's really important to us that our couples receive their wedding films in a timely manner. Typically you'll receive your films within 8 to 12 weeks, depending on the time of year.

Summer is naturally our busiest season, but we're careful not to overbook ourselves so we can still dedicate the proper time to editing each film.

After your wedding we'll confirm an estimated delivery window so you know exactly what to expect.
How will I receive my wedding film?
All of our packages include a personalised client portal where you can watch and easily share your films with family and friends. It works beautifully across phones, tablets and computers.

Depending on your package, we'll also post a USB presentation box to an address of your choice. Inside you'll find a USB containing all of your video files.

Many couples love having both options: the convenience of sharing online, along with the reassurance of a physical keepsake to hold onto for years to come.
Do you offer a teaser shortly after the wedding?
Yes. A 60-second teaser is included with our Premium and Ultimate packages so you can relive a few highlights shortly after the wedding and share something special with friends and family.

We usually deliver the teaser within 2 to 3 days after the wedding, depending on the timing of the weekend.
